Operation Interstellar Directions to The Voodoo Lounge

THE VOODOO LOUNGE - SAN FRANCISCO

Beer, bands, and sushi? Why not?

The Voodoo Lounge, located at 2937 Mission St. between 25th & 26th, is in the heart of the Mission, a heart of parking darkness from which few vehicles emerge unscathed by tickets -- and if you're driving a particularly ostentatious SUV or luxury sedan, you face the additional challenge of making it through the evening without having your tires slashed by neighborhood militants fighting the invading yuppie horde.

The Lushes for Public Transport urge you to leave your Beemer -- and your parking worries -- behind, and get down with the people . . . take mass transit! Besides, a proper night out at the Voodoo Lounge may well leave you acting like a bit of a zombie yourself, in which case you, not to mention the pedestrians on the sidewalks, will be quite thankful that someone else is doing the driving . . .

BART

The Voodoo is a snap on BART!

From 24th St. Mission Station, it's a short walk (less than 2 blocks) south along Mission; for those of you who don't know south from Shinola, if you cross 23rd, you're going the wrong way!

For fares and schedules, you may consult this spiffy interactive BART map.

AC Transit (East Bay)

Take any Transbay Bus (these maps should help you find the nearest line) to the Transbay Terminal. From there, you can hop an outbound 14-Mission (see the Muni directions below) at 1st & Mission and ride it all the way to the Voodoo. If you're a speed freak, walk 1 block NW (the direction you face as you exit the front of the terminal) along 1st, Fremont, or Beale to Embarcadero BART, and follow the BART directions above, or just take a cab -- there are usually a few hanging around the terminal.

Don't even try to walk unless you're really, really, really schnockered.

Transbay fares are $2.50. Be sure to check the schedule, especially if you're unfamiliar with a particular line.

San Francisco Muni

The major line to the Voodoo is, not surprisingly, the 14-Mission; the less-frequent cross-town 48-24th-Street is another option. Fares are $1.00, and whatever route you choose, be sure to check the schedule if you're not familiar with the line.

This Muni map of the Voodoo vicinity may also prove useful.

The preceding public service announcement has been yet another token gesture of the Lushes for Public Transport.
