Operation Interstellar Latest News!

17 November 2003 We played our last show with our co-founder Vince last night at Blakes in Berkeley. It was quite a show, complete with smoke machines, and impromptu covers of a Pixies song (Here Comes Your Man). We also filmed & taped the show.

We want to take a moment to wish Vince all the best with his future projects --- check out his website --- and thank him for all the great times. Vince & Jason first started playing together all the may back in early 1998, and its been quite a trip. Thanks very much mate! We'll miss ya...

... and if any of you know a great keyboard player who can fill Vince's considerable shoes, let us know... we'll make it worth your while.

See you in the new year. Rock on!
21st September 2003 Hey everyone! Thanks for making our first gig with Matt at the Lost & Found such a storming success... what a great night. We love you all!! See you in November...
03 August 2003 We've got ourselves a new drummer - Matt Costello - and he's kicking up a storm in practice. We should be out gigging again in a few weeks, so hopefully you'll all come out and meet Matt. We're ready to Rock Your World again!
16 December 2002

Sorry we've been away for a while - JJ hurt his feet so wasn't able to drum for a while. But he's a lot better now, and we're dusting off the setlist in the studio. As a reward for everyone's patience, we've mixed down a live-studio recording of one of our newer songs, Conscience, and its smoking - you can get it over in the MP3 section. Let us know what you think!

We're on TV! Our Voodoo Lounge show as part of the Chameleon Music Showcase in April is shown occasionally on the Blue Lew Show on Bay Area TV. Last time we were on was Sunday 20th October 2002, but let us know if you see us again.

Blue Lew Show details :

Berkeley channel 25 Fri/Sat/Sun @ 11.30/10.30/11.30pm
San Francisco channel 29 10.30pm, 2nd & 4th Tuesday's of the month

We'll be gigging again early in the new year. See you then.

23rd April 2002 We had two of our songs (S.O.S.O.I. and Radiation) played on The Next Big Thing on KALX 90.7 FM a couple of weeks ago! Give them a call and request us again!
15th February 2002 You can now include us in your decorating plans, with the official Operation Interstellar Desktop Wallpaper!
More designs coming soon...
11th December 2001 Thanks to everyone who's come to see our recent shows. We've had a lot of fun playing places like the Pound SF, and the Covered Wagon. Holiday season coming along, so hope you all get everything you ever wanted. Remember, OpInt debut CD's make an excellent Christmas present, and can be ordered online.

We're setting up some new shows for the New Year, so we hope to see you there... come and check out our new songs, and immerse yourself in the total rock and roll experience that is Operation Interstellar!
30th July 2001

Wazzup! We've got our CD RELEASE PARTY coming up real soon now. We're playing at Blakes in Berkeley on Sunday 12th August at 9.30pm. Come along and support us. We've got a 75 minute set, so we'll be playing all your favourites, at least one brand new song, and maybe some special stuff we haven't played in a while!

We've added our friends Love Kills Love to the Stork Club gig on Tuesday 28th August, so with them and the Salem Lights, its going to be one hell of a show!

16th July 2001

The album, S.O.S.O.I. is for sale on the internet. All sales are done securely through PayPal, so you can order a copy and have it winging to your home ASAP. You can sample several tracks online, too!

27th June 2001

Our debut album, S.O.S.O.I. is now available, and its a killer! We're really really happy with it. A big thanks to Sal Bednarz for recording and producing us, to Lawrence Polikoff for the awesome CD insert design, and all of you guys out there for supporting us!

CD is on sale for $10 + shipping, and you can either order online, via mail, at one of our gigs, or even in some local record stores.

The Eli's gig was fun - they filmed our whole set, and breaking kick drum pedals aside, it went stormingly well. We were helped in no small manner by the Operation Interstellar Dancers, bouncing around in front of us... 33 Cents even provoked a small mosh pit!

We've got some great gigs coming up - Blakes (Berkeley) on Sunday 12th August (9.30pm), the Stork Club (Oakland) on Tuesday 28th August with our friends the Salem Lights, and back to the city on Friday 7th September for a return visit to the Voodoo Lounge. We're playing with Project: Pimento, a fellow Theremin toting band.

23rd May 2001

Its been a while, but we're back on the gigging circuit, with a new album, S.O.S.O.I, a new song, and plenty of extra attitude!

The album's finished, and goes off to production in a couple of days. We're just finishing off the art work. If you want to hear some cuts off the new album, check out the MP3s we've upload to www.mp3.com

Some new gigs - Kimo's on Tuesday 29th May at 9pm, and our first TV gig (for Best of the Bay on Channel 26) is being filmed at Eli's Mile High Club in Oakland on Wednesday June 13th at 8pm. We look forward to seeing you all there, whooping and cheering, and generally drinking down them beers!

17th March 2001

Wow! Just back from a couple of great gigs at the Hotel Utah and the Voodoo Lounge.

A big big thank you to all the bands we played with - Blue In Green, Monkey, and The Phenomenauts.

The Voodoo Lounge gig in particular was a blast, and we shook, rattled and rolled to some futuristicgypsysurfrockabilly from The Phenomenauts, and some MonkeySka courtesy of Monkey. Check these guys out!

Other news - we've finished recording the album, the mix should be done in a day or two, and hopefully we should have it pressed up in the near future.

7th November 2000

Hope you all remembered to vote!

We're currently in the studio cutting tracks for our forthcoming CD. Recording is going well, and we've got some mighty drum tracks recorded, and Rafi's been laying down some solid bass.

A big big thank you to everyone who's come to see us. We've had two superb gigs recently - a special Sunday afternoon gig at the Hotel Utah, and a Saturday evening one at the Voodoo Lounge. This one in particular was amazing fun. We really packed the place, almost cleaned it out of sushi and generally rocked the house! A big thanks to Hattattak for supporting us!

We're playing the Stork Club (Telegraph & 23rd, Oakland) tomorrow, Wed 8th November at 10pm. This might well be our last gig this year, so come and see us for some early new year's cheer!

24th September 2000

Another great gig at the Port Lite last Friday. We really enjoyed it. Again, thanks to those who came to see us. We had a damn good turn out, and I'm sure we'll be back there. We enjoyed checking out Splotch and Noiz as well - Noiz were awesome. Tool/Creed style stuff. Check them out if you get a chance.

You may have noticed that our logo has now gone colour. Doesn't it look great? Big thanks to PJ for doing this for us. She's done a wonderful job. Ta very much, lass!

Finally - our next gig is in San Francisco at the Tip Top Inn (Mission & 26th) on Wed 11th October. We're first on, about 9pm. We look forward to seeing you all there!

14th September 2000

Just coming down from our first gig at the Stork Club! It was awesome :-) Thanks to everyone who treked out on a Wednesday night to see us - we couldn't have done it without you. Check out some photos. Thanks also to The Dead Beats and The Bog Dogs.

Apologies if you've had problems getting to the site over the last couple of days - we've been playing with DNS and that's causing some issues.

And if you haven't come to see us yet, our next scheduled landing is at The Portlite (3rd & Brush, Oakland) on Fri 22nd September, at 9.30pm. Come and check out JJ's mystery costumes!!!

15th August 2000 We've got a new gig! Wednesday October 11th at the Tip Top Inn (26th & Mission) in San Francisco.
14th August 2000

The website is almost up and running; just need to get the new logo up, and get the guestbook and mailing lists working.

We've got our first two gigs in September at the Stork Club and Portlite, so come and see us play!

Drop us a line. Cheers! Jason
